Starting in April Groom Creek Fire District Firewise Committee personnel will begin surveying homes in the district to mitigate wildfire risk, improve response times and strengthen strategies for a safer more responsible Firewise community. This survey is conducted internally to collect data for fire suppression and planning purposes while helping community members better understand ways to reduce the risk of damage or loss to their property during the event of a wildfire. These uniformed fire district personnel will be driving around the district for the next several months, stopping at homes to assess wildfire risks while leaving information on how to improve conditions and reduce risk to your home. Property owners are encouraged to contact Groom Creek Fire District to schedule an educational, thorough, face to face assessment of your property. Upon completion of recommended clean ups, community members are eligible for a new NFPA “FireWise USA” sign to display on your property.
