Fuels Treatments and Hazard Reduction Programs

The Groom Creek Fire District is currently running several programs designed to assist our community property owners with clearing away much of the dead and living vegetation that resides on property sites, and which creates a fire hazard for the community. 2006 / 2007 Defensible Space Project

  • Clear a 30′ perimeter from around home
  • Removal of pine needles, grass
  • Clear rain gutters and roof of pine debris
  • Pruning of small tree branches

Chipper Program

  • Remove branches and brush from property
  • GCFD provides personnel
  • Chip and mulch for more natural disposal
  • Does not do pine needles and leaves
  • Call us for services

Dumpster Program

  • An extremely popular summer program
  • Dumpster provided for yard debris disposal
  • Please do not use it for garbage
  • Free to District residents

Other Forest Health Projects

  • Run by USFS to improve forest health in the forest surrounding our community
  • Includes thinning and prescribed fires
  • Helps restore natural forest state
  • Helps create defensible space for the entire Prescott area.
  • Assisted by GCFD fire personnel
