We will be dedicating the park and anticipate the ramada, benches, tables and barbeque grills to be installed by this date. We will be holding a pie auction and chili cook-off at 11:00 a.m.
For Chili Cook-Off Participants:
- Participants are to bring fully prepared red or green chili or salsa
- Please bring a minimum of one gallon.
- Red or green chili with or without beans or salsa
- Entry is free
- Bring your own table, stove, and 1/3 cup server
- A few tables are available for rent for $5.00
- Call Terry Hammond at 777-8349 to register by May 22, 2008
For Chili Tasters:
- Open to the general public
- Chili tasting bowls will be sold. You get 5 for $5.00
- Salsa and chips for salsa tasting are $1.00
- People's choice votes will be sold for $1.00 per bowl
- Drinks will also be available (and you might need it!)
Pie Auction:
- Contact Andrea at 776-8514 to donate a homemade pie for the auction
THE FINE PRINT: This is not a professional chili cook-off. This event is being held as a community social and fund raiser with all proceeds being donated to the Groom Creek park Development.
Begins Saturday, May 31 and will continue through August 30. Please look for the fliers to be posted about the titles and times. Popcorn, sodas and treats sold to raise money for the park.

Spaghetti Dinner at the Fire Station beginning at 5:00 p.m. Cost will be $10 for adults and $5 for children. The dinner menu will include spaghetti and meat sauce, salad and garlic bread. Tea, water and punch will be served as well.
This event is returning bigger and better than before. The Haunted Hay ride, games and activities for the whole family will occur on Friday night and all day Saturday. Specific information will be available in the near future.
We are looking for interest in a no-limit Texas Hold’em poker tournament with a $50 buy in as an event. We will need dealers and are still looking for a location. We are hoping to have this at the end of the summer. If you are interested in this event, please call Terry Hammond at 928-777-8349. We will let you know in upcoming newsletters when the tournament will be held.
